Släpp Fobin – Låt de som vill odla hampa göra det!

Förutom att odla quinoa så har vi på vår gård även börjat odla hampa i år. Det har varit ett sant nöje att odla industrihampa (Cannabis sativa). Denna gröda har funnits i våra trakter och odlats och använts av människor i minst 29 000 år – med andra ord har vi odlat den långt innan vi fick för oss att odla vete och råg – och hade jag varit en bonde på medeltiden fram till slutet av 1800-talet så var det faktiskt straffbart enligt lagboken att INTE odla hampa, så viktig var den för våra förfäder.
Även de äldsta medicinska texterna i världen är 5 000 år gamla och handlar om hampa (cannabis) och är från Kina. Växten användes bland annat för att behandla inflammationer och smärtor. Även vikingarna odlade den. Att vi i cirka 40 år har haft fobi för denna harmlösa medicinska växt är en sorglig parentes i människans historiska bruk av hampa. Hampa är inte rusgivande om det är någon som undrar.
Vi tillverkar många olika mathantverk från hampan, hampasmör, hampafröolja och hampamjöl från dess frön och hampa-kombucha från bladen och blommorna. Utöver det gör vi ett kosttillskott som kallas hampaolja (CBD-olja) av blommorna som har hjälpt många. Jag börjar sakta men säkert även byta ut min garderob till hampakläder eftersom hampa är fyra gånger slitstarkare än bomull och ett mycket miljövänligare alternativ då den varken kräver bekämpningsmedel eller extra bevattning. Dessutom så värmer hampatyg dig på vintern och svalkar dig på sommaren.
Växten har inga kända fiender – förutom byråkratiska människor – så den behöver inte någon ogräsbekämpning eller pesticidbesprutning. En helt fantastisk växt med andra ord som passar mycket bra för ekologisk odling. Dessutom kan man skapa biologiskt nedbrytbar plast av hampan, så vi kan sluta förpesta naturen med våra plastförpackningar.
Hampa istället för skog
Det är fyra gånger mer effektivt att odla hampa än att såga ner skog för att skapa papper. Hampa tar en säsong att odla medan skog tar 50-70 år. Det går även att med relativt låga kostnader skapa hampadiesel och hampaetanol för att framföra våra fordon på ett mer miljövänligt sätt. I Kina har man kommit långt med att industriellt odla hampa för mat och kläder, även Kanada ligger i framkanten och grödan omnämns bland annat som ”the multi billion dollar industry”.
Men i Sverige går det i stället bakåt och vi riskerar att hamna rejält på efterkälken, myndigheter agerar förvirrat, är sega och blandar fortfarande ibland ihop växten med rusgivande cannabis och bondeorganisationer ger ingen hjälp till de som vill sätta igång.
Just nu är vi endast en handfull bönder i landet som odlar hampa och det ser jag som ett av mina uppdrag i livet att ändra på. Hampa är lösningen på så många av de problem vi har i världen idag. Jag kommer fortsätta min föreläsningsturne och resa land och rike och berätta om hampans historia och dess industri-, miljö- och hälsofördelar. Hampan är en stor del av vårt förflutna och en ännu större del av vår framtid. 2018 är Hampans år!
