Hampans historia – En kortare överblick
Fakta som står nämnd kan bland annat återfinnas i”Encyclopedia Britannica”, ett uppslagsverk som tillverkades av hampa i över 150 år. Värt att nämna så bör ett uppslagsverk (oavsett hur gammal) fungera i verifikationssyfte. Texten berör växtarten Cannabis Sativa, även känd som hampa, Indiskhampa & industrihampa.
Majoriteten av all litteratur berörande arkeologi, antropologi, ekonomi och historia visar att hampa var en av jordens största agrikulturella grödor och viktigaste industrier, från minst 1000 år före kristus till år 1883. Hampa användes för produktion av majoriteten av jordens fibrer, tyger, lampoljor, papper, rökelser, mediciner m.m. Det var dessutom en viktig källa för oljor och protein, mat för både människor och djur.

Hampa är ett av världens starkaste och mest hållbara naturliga mjuk-fiber på planeten. Plantans blommor och löv – beroende på kultur – har varit en av de viktigaste medicinska komponenterna i åtminstone 3000 år, tills inledande av 1900-talet.
Hampan är kapabel till att nyttja solens energi mer effektivt än många andra plantor och kan nå en längd på 3,5-6 meter. Den kan odlas i de flesta klimat och jordar. Botaniskt sett tillhör hampa ett av de mest avancerade växtsläkten på planeten, hampaplantan är en så kallad ”tvåbyggare”
Tvåbyggare innebär inom botaniken att en växt med enkönade blommor har skilda han- och honplantor. Ungefär 5 % av alla landväxter är tvåbyggare.
